Come January, gym memberships skyrocket. Everyone assumes that they’re going to carry out their New Year’s resolutions to get in shape. After a few months (perhaps weeks or days) the enthusiasm wanes.
The problem?
It becomes easy to avoid the gym when you have to drive there, and when it’s only open at certain hours.
The solution?
Just get a gym at home—and here are three reasons why you should do that…
#1: You can’t avoid it. As we mentioned, gym memberships rise and fall like the stock market through the end of Winter. Let’s face it: it’s hard to fit the gym into your schedule, especially since it involves getting in your car to go to and from the gym. Then of course, you usually have to shower in a strange place—and who wants to do that? With a gym right at home, you won’t have any excuse to avoid going. You won’t have to struggle to fit it into your schedule. You can hit the gym for five minutes or half an hour, when you come home from work or before you head out.
#2: You won’t have to pay for a gym membership. True, you will have to pay for the equipment, but once that’s paid off, you won’t pay a dime again. Compare this to a recurring gym membership. While some gyms might just be $40 monthly (that’s still almost $500 annually), others may be as much as $100 or more. With that price, you’ll pay more for a gym membership—within the first year—than you will for a home gym. Even better, everyone in the family can use it, without having to get extra memberships.
#3: You’ll have privacy when you work out. A lack of privacy is one of the biggest deterrents people face in terms of committing to a gym workout. Whether you’re a guy who feels insecure about his muscles, or a woman who doesn’t want to get hit on by creepy dudes, having your own, private space to work out is more than a luxury—it will facilitate you working out more often. Sweat, grunt, and lift away in your pajamas or whatever else you want to wear…because no one is watching. Best of all, you can listen to whatever music you want.
So what are you waiting for? If you want to get in shape in the convenience and privacy of your own home, do your own research to find the best options for home gym equipment.
